November Weather in New Orleans is Great…Not Hot and Not Cold….

Friday, November 16th, 2012

November is a great weather month for New Orleans.  Its a no sweat or no bundle up time.  The greenery is still growing and people still plant and hang baskets this time of year.  We are getting ready for Christmas decorations in a couple of weeks.

Lots of clear weather with less rain.  Hurricane season is over.  Just a time to enjoy the days if you can get out.  Sometime you can just skip the lunch and walk a neighborhood, your body may be like mine and it would not hurt to miss a meal.

New Orleans Doubles, A block of them that I found this week…..

Colorful Now in 2012…When these were originally constructed many years ago they were almost all white with dark green shutters and some trim worked painted.  Nothing like they look today.  I consider them like works of art today.  Finding 4-5 well restored and with the artist touch on a single block is not the norm. I found these on Constance Street in Uptown New Orleans.  Wow… Some Color today.

New Orleans Cottage almost Hidden by the Crepe Myrtles…

Friday, August 17th, 2012

This colorful New Orleans Sidehall Cottage sits behind the these two large Crepe Myrtles.  With all the recent rain these trees have taken off.  These are one of the more popular trees in the area as they do grow well and quickly in the New Orleans Climate.  This Uptown cottage with picket fence and bright colors stands out on this Summer day.

New Orleans Uptown Homes under the Wonderful Oak Trees, A Winning Combination…

Monday, July 9th, 2012

New Orleans is fortunate to have so many nice oak trees around the city.  They may tear up the sidewalks but they are worth the beauty and the shade they share with us all Spring and Summer.  The climate is perfect and they get along with the people just fine.  These are around Magazine Street in the Uptown area of New Orleans.

New Orleans gets mighty Green this time of Year…..

Friday, March 16th, 2012

Lot of things blooming and getting ready to burst into color.  The first is from a 4th floor Napoleon Ave view over looking pin oaks with their bright new leaves as they have just arrived.  The second is an Esplanade Avenue  balcony is full of color already.  The third is the Crepe Myrtles on Burgundy beginning to show their leaves and it will not be long before they are blooming as well.  New Orleans can be very colorful this time of year….Almost no Winter so everything gets a head start.

Loyola Law School , Broadyway Campus was once St. Mary’s Dominican College

Thursday, January 5th, 2012

New Orleans is full of Historic Buildings all over the City.  This was once Greenville Hall which was built in 1889 and became part of Dominican College in in 1914.  The St. Charles Ave address is close to Loyola Main Campus and Tulane University.  All within an easy walk to Audubon Park.  In 1984 it became part of Loyola University.

It is a good thing that the buildings do get used over and over again.  This does not happen by chance.

Azaleas bloom and give New Orleans homes a splash of color…

Sunday, March 20th, 2011

Lots and lots of color this week in March as Azaleas are in full bloom throughout the City of New Orleans and South Louisiana.  This means we are fully into Spring of 2011.  From white to red to pink and colors inbetween they all are giving us a splash of color as things begin to really get green.  Best to enjoy them now as they come and go quickly.

Tulane University in New Orleans, A large employer

Did you know that Tulane University is one of the largest employers in the City of New Orleans.  It brings millons of dollars to the city through its students and visitors.  Education can be a big business in a city full of dummies, myself included.  Many former students love New Orleans and return on a regular basis.  You do nor have to be a Greenie fan to appreciate the value of Tulane University to the New Orleans Metro area.

Tulane did beat LSU two years in a row in football many, many years ago.

Neighborhood Condos do well in New Orleans Uptown area! What does this say ?

5607 Prytania Street Condos, New Orleans Condos

These 1920 circa apartments were turned into condos this Spring and all 12 were sold within a 6-8 week period before they could be finished.  One reason was location and style.  The terrific location even without parking was they key.  Having a great developer did not hurt either.  The combination of the the historic feel with a very walkable neighborhood made it a success in what has been a slow year. The 5607 Prytania location was a winner.

New Orleans Side Hall Cottage, Well Groomed in Uptown New Orleans !

Uptown New Orleans Side Hall Cottage

An Uptown side hall cottage in New Orleans with 4 bays.  Its simple with very clean lines in a residential area near St. Charles Ave.   The area is very walkable.  You can walk to Maple Street and the St. Charles Ave courtyard.  Most likely built around 1900.   The tree grew much larger than the origional thought.  Great job with the plants and landscaping in the front yard.
